I would like to support the above application and will state the reasons why.
Firstly, I have visited this site and garden. The removal of the fir trees were taken into great consideration. They were completely dead inside and for the safety of all concerned, they were removed. I actually find it rather snobbish to feel that fences are not appropriate in West Hill! This fence isn't seen by anyone other than the owners and immediate neighbours. It cant be viewed from the road and even if it could, people are entitled to privacy and to enjoy their gardens as they deem fit. Hedges take years to grow up and thus meaning it would take years to have a suitable privacy screen. Whilst I agree hedges can look lovely, half of the road side hedges I see in our village are ill maintained. Owners have zero consideration for over grown hedges on roads, making it dangerous for those driving, walking and on horse back.
I live in a bungalow in the village and all the new properties built opposite me are houses and my neighbour has recently gone up to a 3 storey home. There are equally as many house if not more than bungalows out here.
The current property is barely fit for living in. Surely we should be welcoming families that have lived in the village for many years and are born and bred in Devon. They would not be purchasing a home based on "egotistical values" if they had not resided in the village for many years and supported the local community. I actually found that comment really rude, derogatory and blasphemous. Planning allocation objections should not be personal to the applicants and as such I believe such inappropriate comments removed from the public domain.
As stated the current property is tired and extremely run down and needs sympathetic renovations to allow a local family to raise their children in the village.
I thought the plans show a modern and forward thinking looking property that would enhance the village rather than deflect from it.

There will be an adverse effect on our property with regard to the outlook from our front garden and driveway. Currently we can only see the top section of the existing chimney since trees have been removed. However, when reviewing the proposed plans it appears the new roofline would be considerably higher than it is presently. We will be seeing the top of the bedroom window, the east gable end of the extension and the side of the new north facing dormer window. Currently we are not overlooked in any direction and enjoy the privacy from our entire garden. We believe the plans in their current form will have a detrimental affect on the private recreation offered by our home and gardens. Additionally, the extension will be constructed to the east of the existing building bringing the extended property closer to our boundary therefore causing an additional noise factor.
